Resident Involvement
NSH is committed to involving residents and communities in improving its services. We are currently developing involvement by creating new resident and leaseholder involvement agreements.
NSH recognise that in order to achieve real involvement we must:
- operate as an open, transparent and accountable organisation
- actively seek the views of residents and communities
- be responsive to the views of residents and communities
- give residents and communities real influence
How can residents get involved?
There are many different ways to get involved, so that residents can choose the one which best suits them. You can get involved by:
- joining an existing residents' association or setting up a new one to tackle local issues
- becoming a village or street representative
- suggesting ways to improve the local environment
- going on an estate inspection with your estate manager
- attending one of our working groups, e.g. to review North Somerset Housing's policies, or look at the way we select contractors or materials, or inspect repair work
- joining our readers' panel to give your opinion on how clearly our documents and letters have been written
- joining the disability forum - for residents with disabilities and their carers
- attending a sheltered scheme meeting (held every six months)
- acting as a sheltered scheme representative at the sheltered forum
- attending the annual leaseholders' meetings
- joining the leaseholders' group
- filling in a survey to give us your opinion
- going to an open meeting
- attending the annual residents' conference
- becoming a member of the board 5 of the 15 board member places are for tenants
- becoming a member of North Somerset Housing - this would mean that you could attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting
- become a mystery shopper and report on your service experience
